Dilla Community thanks Awdal Charity Services Inc. & IFAD for Water Project

We, the undersigned community leaders of the district of Dilla, Awdal Region, Somaliland, would like to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Safia Abdillahi Ismail, head of the Awdal Charity Services Inc., based in Dallas, Texas, USA, for initiating a water well drilling project for our farming community.

Ms Ismail visited the area in January 2012 and donated funds that her organization raised from charitable people in Dallas. She announced the project in the presence of community leaders, local council officials, and the local representative office of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) with which she signed a contract for the implementation and completion of the project.

After several trials, IFAT finally succeeded to drill the water well with sufficient volumes of water and has started to make a pipeline to bring the water to the town.

This is a great day for the community of Dilla, a farming area, which has been suffering from water shortage for decades and people and livestock relied on intermittent rain water and were trekking long distances to fetch water since the village was found in the 1940s.

Once again, we extend our thanks and appreciation to Awdal Charity Services Inc and its community of donors for initiating and contributing the seed money to launch the project and for International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for financing and implementing the project to its successful completion.

We would like to urge both organizations to continue their collaboration in implementing more water and developmental projects in the area. And on behalf of the community, we promise to provide everything in our capacity to help facilitate your work in upgrading the life of the community.
