Anglo-Somali Society Meeting, Wednesday 26 February 2014

5.30pm for 6pm at the YMCA Indian Student Hostel, 41 Fitzroy Square, London W1T 6AQ

The nearest underground stations are Great Portland Street, Warren Street, and Euston. The venue is the upstairs CONFERENCE ROOM, approached through a door to the left of ‘reception’. The attractive supper menu offers a choice of veg. or halal non-veg. at a flat rate of £7, paid in advance. Tickets will be posted to you on receipt of the slip below. The additional charge of £2 will go towards the hire of the room.

Proposals for new council members, chairperson, and vice-chairperson

(with their prior agreement) and names of

volunteers should reach the Hon. Sec. Dr. Susan Sills  by 12 Feb. 2014.

                                     http://www.iomlondon.org/     Outreach Consultant for Somalia.

                                     

                               Help for qualified Somalis in the UK to aid development in the Horn

                               The talk will be about the organization’s QUESTS-MIDA programme

(Migration for Development in Africa) which brings the skills, knowledge,

and expertise of Somalis in the diaspora to the Horn.      

 

6.50 – 7.30 pm      Mary Harper,  Africa Editor at the BBC World Service,

                                       and author of Getting Somalia Wrong

                                    

From Somalia to Siberia: The incredible journey of the Somali ice skaters

The talk will include details of her recent visit to meet Somalis in Sweden and her current visit to Mogadishu.
