Is He The Silanyo That I Have Read His Biography ?

It is June 1989 arriving at the most hottest and the most barren spot on the Earth Planet. Siyad Bare killing machine with the collaboration of the Jibouti Gandar – Marine have assassinated a business man called Abdillahi from Putland suspected of being a supporter of the Armed Opposition Party from the Italian Colony at that time, called SSDF. On the same day of the killing, I arrived at Jibouti Airport coming from Saudi Arabia. Mr. President Omer Geele and his deceased brother was the commanders of the secret service of the Jibouti State at that time. As an excuse to that incident. A lot of Jibouti citizens and travellers from somewhere else but originally their roots from Somaliland were Arrested. I and another famous business man from Berbera called Xaji Carmiyie were among those who were arrested. Some of the travellers by Trucks or Land Cruisers have told us that hundred of innocent civilians originally from the Isaaq tribe mostly in between twenty and thirty years of age, of both gender are deported to Loya Adde on daily bases and they were immediately executed by the killing machine of Siyad Bare Army stationed there. Then unexpected the deceased President Hassan Guleed Abtidon had shown up on the Jibouti TV addressing his Nation. Saying that some people who have burned their country and set it on fire, want to burn this country. A frightened child dreads fire. You guys, you can’t destroy our country as you have set fire on your country, pointing his finger indirectly to the SNM who were helpless at that time. I can’t express in writing my feelings and how my stomach grew sick at that occasion. Looking all around my surroundings in all directions and everybody was treating us as if we are having an epidemic disease. We were regarded as their enemy, and they were looking at us scornfully when they comprehend our accent. From now and then, the Jibouti political leaders regularly spinning badly conceived Schemes and plots against Somaliland and it’s people. While we are kissing both their cheeks and showing them a friendly gesture and offering a mutual respect, and good attitude of neighborhood. But all our effort and trials are always ends in vain. My second glance to a Jibouti TV was April 9 th, 2016, the fourth inauguration of President Omer Geele, our brother – In – Law , to the presidency Office. Before I opened the TV my moral and spirit was super and highly esteemed, fully loaded with promising expectations and optimism. Expecting to see my President sitting among the other African Presidents. I wished I couldn’t open the TV. Here then the curse happens. To my great surprise and astonishment, I saw my respected guest president acting as a host and welcoming the other presidents from Africa, clapping his hands, chanting and sitting among the truck drivers and the House -Maids of Jibouti. What an awful and an ugly scene! All that I remember is nothing but after two days I saw myself in a Hospital -Bed and some friends surrounding me. That ugly scene is still engraved on my memory and it is a nightmare that I have failed to get rid of it. It was ugly, disgusting, weird and hard to believe .
Dear reader, my pain may be the reason for somebody’s laugh. But my laugh must never be the reason for somebody’s pain. The prettiest girls with the prettiest eyes of Somaliland have cried the most tears, and the kindest hearts of those heavenly body girls, have felt the most pain. Mr. Silanyo, my life is a closed case, where I keep my memories, my friends, my sorrow, my laugh and cheers, and wounds on my heart. How on earth you have handed my case to my enemy. We will never forgive and will never forget. You are a subject of allegiance to a high treason and guilty consciousness. Mr. Silanyo you have betrayed us. You believe that love is when somebody breaks your heart and the most amazing thing is that, you still love him with every broken piece of your shattered and devastated heart. Hell with you , and hell with your beloved President Omer Geele. You are that much dumb because you have learned nothing of your old mistakes, your old wounds and that long experience in life. Apology doesn’t mean that you are wrong, or the other person was right. It means that your relationship with Omer Geele is more valuable than our Ego. That is the straw that broke the camel’s back. That is what always brings me back to my enemy while my head is down and under the water. Not because we are weak and helpless but because you don’t mean what you saying to your people. And partly because you are dishonest and you have lied to your people more than the Tobacco Industry had lied to the whole World. That is why we are always in square one and retracing again that wrong path of betrayal of yesterday. Mr. Silanyo, you will never grow up. Why do we want to love our enemy while we know it will only hurt us in the end. The wide smile of President Omer Geele hides the deepest hatred and malice to your country and to your people. Good God bless the deceased President Mr. Egal. Dear reader, graves tell no tales. I don’t know who is me yet. I have to discover myself again. A hole needs filling in my wisdom tooth. Yesterday was a painful memory, today is dark and there is no a promising tomorrow. And we still senselessly blaming our future generation for why are they committing suicide in between the devil and the dead sea. Totally we are not a nation that deserves that country that they occupy. We are a piece of shit and human garbage. You can’t blame someone for walking away or running away, if you don’t do anything to make them stay. My son Ismail, give me the gun to kill myself, before you kill yourself. Because you can stand life without me but I can’t stand it without you. The day you stop loving me is the day that you will open your eyes forever. So stop loving me as a father. Dear reader, for how long I can break my sword with my knees and sue for peace? Almost a quarter of a century and I am still watering that barren and fruitless tree, led by a leader on a mask. Mr. Silanyo, I wish if you could read my heart and really see how much deep that I hate you. We are not asking for that much. We just want to have a place in your heart, like you have a place in our hearts. The best thing you want me to do is. No thinking, no wonder, no imagine and no obsess. Just to breathe and to have faith that everything will work out for the best. But that doesn’t work in this age and time. We have to stand up on our own feet and do what the others did. Fight back in a civil way. We won’t trust our destiny with somebody who loves his enemy. He is that Pesident Omer Geele who wants to see us fall and down. But we will hold our heads up, stand on our feet, and will believe in ourselves and will follow our vision. Mr. Geele, hell with your negative faith.
Mr. Silanyo, we don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason.
To be someone’s first love may be great. But to be their last love is beyond perfect. Mr. Silanyo, a person who truelly loves you , is someone who sees the pain in your eyes, while everyone else believes in the false smile on your face. Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. Be sure you put your feet on the right place, then stand firm. When something bad happens. You have three choices. You can either let it define you. Let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.
President Geele, remember that France lost a bottle, France didn’t lose the war. Don’t let the pretty face of Mr.Silanyo to fool you. Mr. Omer, if you are an onion with many layers; as Somalilanders, we are all chameleons if we have to.
Dear reader, a silent hug means a thousand words to the unhappy heart. The very last person you think about , right before you fall asleep. That is the one who your heart belongs to. The World suffers a lot, not because of the violence of the bad people. But because of the silence of the good people. If you build an army of hundred lions and their leader is a dog, in any fight the lions will fight like a dog. But if you build an army of hundred dogs and their leader is a lion, all the dogs will fight like a lion.
Mr. Silanyo, give me back my ring and kiss.

May 18th in Somaliland: Celebration for a Few; Sorrow for Many by Jacfar Jamac

SomalilanA tall gaunt looking young man ambles back and forth in the streets of downtown Borama. His shirt is unbuttoned and you can count his ribs without even feeling them. He has been pacing the streets since the atrocities committed against his brothers by the Somali National Movement in 1991. His mother, suffering from extreme grief over the death of her sons, lost her mind and now goes in circles all day in the downtown market of Borama. They both lost their minds after they witnessed the murders of their relatives by the SNM militia. The militia killed the brothers and then drove armored vehicles over their dead bodies.
Another man shouts in grief, “my camels are completely wiped out!” His entire herd was slaughtered by the SNM and taken to feed its soldiers. Another man in his early 80’s, sobs as he sits on the floor of his hut. He saw the SNM killing people in the streets of Gabiley; and watched helplessly as SNM soldiers completely destroyed his orchards. The orchards were all the material goods he possessed—his entire life savings. Displaced at the age of 80 after witnessing the most atrocious crimes, he vowed never to return to his home.
These are a few accounts from over 764 pogroms carried out by the SNM against the Gadabursi. While committing these atrocities, the SNM militia chanted a poetic epithet, “Hadaan Saw iyo Sogsoglay iskugu gayn” (I will sweep the Gadabursi and gather them under Saw Mountain). The militia depopulated many towns and pursued survivors to Borama and beyond. While besieging a town, they would chant, “God is great!” Emboldened by their victories, they pillaged and razed Gadabursi villages all along the Gabiley Dilla corridor.
Somaliland, an evolution of the SNM, considers May 18th a victory day—a day to celebrate the dislodging of an oppressive military regime in 1991. The Gadabursi, Dhulbahante, Warsangeli, Issa, Fiqi Shini and other Somalis in Somaliland consider May 18th a time that will live in infamy. These tribes did not approve of what Siad Barre, the tyrannical former Somali president, was doing to the Isaks who formed the SNM. The SNM never officially sought the support of these tribes. The tribes never supported the regime’s efforts to crack down on the SNM—and neither did they support the SNM. They were strictly non-aligned. If the other tribes had supported the Barre regime, SNM would have never been successful. Instead of staying focused on the overthrow of the Barre regime, the SNM went after the “sleeping” tribes with a vengeance that ultimately resulted in a killing frenzy.
For many northern tribes, the May 18th celebration simply rekindles the trauma of the civil war and reinforces the exclusive character of the leadership and ownership of Somaliland. It is not a day that all Somaliland tribes agreed to celebrate. It is the unilateral celebration of the Isak tribe. This event doesn’t bring on board all of Somaliland’s tribes. It takes more than a parade and high-sounding speeches to make a celebration. May 18th will continue to be a divisive day with no meaningful sense of nationhood until Somaliland is led, owned, served, and shared equally by all the peoples who live within its borders. On the day that happens, there will be a genuinely heartfelt celebration among all the people of Somaliland.

MINNEAPOLIS (HOL) – The former Somali defense minister Hussein Sheikh Abdirahman has died aged 75 in a hospital in the United States, family announced on Monday.

Mr. Abdirahman, the first civilian official who served as the defence minister under Siad Barre’s regime in 1989-1990 has died after months of illness in a hospital in Minneapolis.

Born in Aware, a town in the Ethiopian Somali region in 1941, Mr. Abdirahman has held various positions in Somalia before warlords overthrew the central government in 1990s.

Having moved to the United States in 1991, the former defence minister who has not been seen in public for months has since worked as a community service leader for the Somali community in the United States.

His former colleagues described him as a ‘hardworking and committed’ forged from years he worked as the Mogadishu magistrate court’s chief, the country’s attorney general, Sanaag region’s commissioner as well as Mudug appeals court’s chief.

His political career was boosted by years he spent working in the justice system, drawing the attention of the former Somali president Siad Barre who chose him to become his defense minister, in the face
of criticism of picking a man with no military background to lead the country’s defence system.

imageA breakaway, semi-desert territory on the coast of the Gulf of Aden, Somaliland declared independence after the overthrow of Somali military dictator Siad Barre in 1991.
The move followed a secessionist struggle during which Siad Barre’s forces pursued rebel guerrillas in the territory. Tens of thousands of people were killed and towns were flattened.
Though not internationally recognised, Somaliland has a working political system, government institutions, a police force and its own currency.
The former British protectorate has also escaped much of the chaos and violence that plague Somalia.

President Silanyo says gaining international recognition is one of his top priorities
Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo came to power in July 2010 following elections considered largely free and fair by international observers.
He defeated the sitting president, Dahir Riyale Kahin, who had been appointed by a council of elders in 2002 and won the territory’s first multi-part elections in 2003.
Mr Silanyo, who has a degree from the London School of Economics, is Somaliland’s fourth president since the territory unilaterally proclaimed its independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991.
MEDIA

Since 1991, Radio Hargeisa has been the Somaliland government’s official mouthpiece. The government also owns Somaliland National Television (SLNTV).
The authorities maintain a tight hold on broadcasting. Radio is the most accessible form of media, although Radio Hargeisa is the only permitted domestic outlet. The press can carry criticism of the government but the market for printed publications is small.

Somaliland issues its own money – the Somaliland shilling
7th century – Islam starts to make inroads into the area of modern-day Somaliland.
14th century – The area’s Islamic sultanates come under the suzerainty of the Christian Ethiopian Empire.

1888 – Britain establishes the protectorate of British Somaliland though treaties with the local sultanates.
1899 – Islamic cleric Mohammed Abdullah rises against British rule, going on to establish the Dervish State, which survives until it is destroyed by British forces in 1920.
1960 – British Somaliland and Italian Somaliland become independent and merge into the Somali Republic.
1991 – The former British Somaliland declares unilateral independence as Somaliland following the ousting of Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, which plunges the rest of Somalia into anarchy.
2001 – More than 97% of the population votes to endorse the constitution adopted in 1997, in a referendum aimed at affirming Somaliland’s self-declared independence.

Somaliland politician blames Ethiopia for delayed recognition

$

Somaliland’s ruling party chairman and potential successor of the sitting president blamed Addis Ababa for delaying Somaliland’s plea for recognition, which he said has not been answered for the last 25 years

Muse Bihi Abdi, chairman of the ruling party of the self-declared Horn of Africa nation and presidential candidate plus potential successor of the incumbent president, Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo, told The Reporter and other selected media on Friday that the main challenge for recognition of Somaliland as a sovereign state during the last quarter of a century is Addis Ababa.

He pointed out two reasons justifying the blame. The first and main challenge his country is facing is the African Union (AU) which he described as the ”tallest tower” in the capital of Ethiopia.

“The tallest tower built by the Chinese at the heart of Addis Ababa, where the continent’s heads of state gather every year is our challenge,” he said.

The Government of Somaliland has submitted its case of international recognition to the AU decades ago but it has not been considered, he said.

The second main challenge, according to him, are neighboring countries, especially Ethiopia, he said. “The big brother in this part of the region is Ethiopia, followed by Kenya and Djibouti, who perfectly know the case of Somaliland more than any African nation; nonetheless, they just kept silent with regards to our case,” he said.

Somaliland is currently celebrating its 25th independence anniversary in the capital Hargeisa.
According to him, all three neighboring states, particularly, Ethiopia, “the superpower” as he described it, have a lot of excuses and said that none of the excuses could hold water for Somaliland.

He said that one of Ethiopia’s excuses is because of the age-long hostility it has with Somalia while the other is claiming neutrality as it is the headquarters of the AU. “The same is true with Djibouti and Kenya,” he said, “They don’t want to be the first to recognize Somaliland,” he added.

Analysts, however, blame world powers, specifically the United States and the European Union for hindering Somaliland’s recognition aiming to maintain the Union of Somalia. Therefore, they say, the AU and member countries of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are helpless unless they got the nod from the world powers.

The chairman, however, opposes this assertion. “We are Africans and are independent to make our own decisions even if the western influence exists,” he argued.

Chairman Muse Bihi Ahmed believes that African leaders are phobic when it comes to recognizing Somaliland. African nations are afraid of the reality including Ethiopia which is brave to put
a secession article in its constitution, he concluded.
